As a caveat, I will first say we've only had this toy for an hour. But in the last hour, my (3 yr old) daughter's been more captivated with this toy than she was with any of her other Christmas gifts.
It's a higher-grade than the typical write-n-wipe boards. There's an automated component to the the wipe-off part. And the different writing utensils (one being a dinosaur footprint) really caters to the imagination. I'm even enticed to play with my daughter!
I'll come back and edit this once we get some hours in it to comment on wear/tear, but as a creative toy that captures the imagination and holds it for a nice long play time - I'm really loving this so far.
